The best motorbike routes in Malaga
They do not necessarily have to be routes of many kilometres to enjoy. For this reason we also include shorter routes to enjoy the coastal cities. This you can do perfectly in a Urban scooter which is very easy to drive. And you can drive it with your driver’s license.
We have also prepared longer routes with beautiful curves on secondary roads. And last but not least, you can also find information on off-road tracks, if Trail is your thing.
Motorbike routes along the Costa del Sol
The Costa del Sol stretches over 160 km from Nerja to Manilva. Doing the whole route or just part of it is ideal if you want to get to know the coastal towns and beaches or enjoy a stop at a Beach Bar.
The N-340 road runs alongside the sea. We pass through all the tourist towns on the Costa del Sol: Nerja, Torrox, Torre del Mar, Malaga, Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Marbella and Estepona.
Nerja – Frigiliana – Torrox Costa motorbike tour
If you start your route from Nerja or nearby, don’t miss the white village of Frigiliana, just a few kilometres from the coast. One of the most beautiful villages in the province, it is also known as a balcony overlooking the sea and offers magnificent views of the coast.
You can also make a stop and visit the impressive Cave of Nerja, also known as the “Cathedral of the Costa del Sol,” or the Aqueduct of the Eagle.
From Nerja we continue along the old N-340 road along the coast.
We can make a stop to see the Roca de la Virgen y Cristo del Mar, a small sanctuary by the sea. Then we arrive at Torrox Costa to enjoy a typical Malaga dish of pescaito (fried fish).
In Nerja there is also a “biker bar” that you might not want to miss. The Moto Rock Bar HS.
It is a short route through some of the best-known places in the Axarquía, without having to travel many kilometres.
Fuengirola – Cala de Mijas motorbike tour
A small excursion ideal for an urban scooter to discover the neighbouring municipality.
The route runs along the A-7 /N-340 along the sea.
We can park in the centre of La Cala de Mijas, take a stroll and enjoy a drink and walk along part of the coastal path towards Marbella. This is one of the most beautiful stretches in this area.
Another nice idea could be to take a walk around the Stupa in Benalmádena and enjoy the views over the Costa del Sol. How to get there.
Motorbike route through Montes de Málaga
Just 5 km from Malaga lies the mountain range of the Montes de Malaga Natural Park, with beautiful slopes, curves and pine-covered mountains.
It is a beautiful “classic” route without having to go too far from the city. There we can enjoy the mountain pass of Puerto de León with views of the Mediterranean, next to Fuente de la Reina.
This route is ideal to stop at one of the inns along the way and try some of the delicious local dishes.
Motorbike route through Sierra de las Nieves
Sierra de las Nieves is one of the most beautiful natural areas of Malaga. Since a couple of years ago it has enjoyed maximum environmental protection as the first National Park of Malaga.
As such, we cannot drive within the protected area. But we can enjoy beautiful roads through the last Spanish fir forests of the European continent.
Motorbike route Marbella – Yunquera
A beautiful route on which we soon gain altitude entering the mountains. Soon we leave the coastal hustle and bustle behind us. On the way we can make a stop at the Mirador de Ojén to enjoy the views over the Mediterranean Sea and Marbella.
We pass through the beautiful white villages of Monda, Guaro, well known for its Luna Mora festival in September. And Alozaina, known for its bakery Pan Piña which makes the most expensive bread in the world.
This route has a special charm during the month of February, when the almond trees are in bloom.
Halfway to Yunquera we can enjoy the Mirador de Jorox. And if you feel like a refreshing stop, park at Venta Rivita and walk 5 minutes to the waterfall of Jorox.

Motorbike route Marbella – Ronda
From Marbella there are two possible routes to Ronda. On the route to Yunquera described above, we can continue from there along the A-366. Thus, we are skirting the northern face of Sierra de las Nieves, arriving in Ronda from the northeast.
The other route starts from San Pedro de Alcántara on the A-397. We soon enter the Serranía de Ronda with endless bends through centuries-old chestnut groves.
Before leaving the coast behind (or on the way back), we can stop at the Mirador El Madroñal to enjoy the fantastic views.
On this route there are several more viewpoints where it is worth making a stop:
Mirador Monte Océano, Puerto El Madroño and Mirador de Igualeja.
Later we arrive in Ronda, where we can make a short stop and enjoy some tapas.
If you still have time, take the opportunity to visit some of Ronda’s most emblematic sites.
Motorbike route Marbella – Igualeja
This route runs halfway between Marbella and Ronda. It takes us through bends and chestnut forests to the source of the river Genal in the village of Igualeja (also famous for its chestnuts).
This is always a beautiful route, but especially so in autumn.
It is the same route as the previous one, leaving San Pedro de Alcántara in the direction of Ronda until the fork to Igualeja.
Motorbike route Antequera – Malaga
This route through the interior of the province takes us from the monumental city of Antequera.
In case you didn’t know: In Antequera there is also an important group of Dolmens from the Neolithic period that might interest you if you are there.
Once on the road, we pass the impressive limestone formation of El Torcal de Antequera. If you are a nature lover, you will love thsi area.
There are several short routes that can be done in a short time. There is a lookout restaurant in the area which is ideal for a break.
Motorbike route through the Axarquia
The Axarquia is another jewel of Malaga, located in the east of the province and bordering the province of Granada.
The area is outstanding for its high mountains and hidden white villages of Arab origin.
