In the mid-19th century, numerous families from the villages of the eastern area of Malaga, who were mostly vinedressers, began to settle in Fuengirola. This port was created due to the necessity of exporting raisins in the mid-19th century. Its wholesale trade had increased considerably due to the vines planted all along the fields of Mijas and Fuengirola.
Fuengirola port is situated next to the seafront promenade, and in its surroundings we’ll find a wide variety of bars and restaurants where we can eat or snack.
This port is for leisure and fishing, it also has a nautical club.
This club offers sporting nautical activities and activities organised by the Spanish Sailing Federation; it has a school that teaches this sailing discipline.
The club collaborates in big events like regattas, tournaments, sport fishing, etc., and also celebrates periodic competitions on important dates every year.
Its facilities offer gym, dance room, meeting room, table tennis, sauna, bar, etc..
