Benahavis is one of the most representative villages in Malaga province where to enjoy a good typical meal of the place as well as enjoying a natural environment and a privileged climate.
Benahavis was an old Moorish hamlet that still reminds us of a remote past while we walk around its streets, like the Malaga street for example, the village’s main street that has a great number of restaurants and bars with terraces from the square till the end.
In Benahavis the traditional dishes are meat stews, whether its with lamb, pork, beef or hunted animals like the partridge or the rabbit. Some restaurants like “La Escalera” offer old recipes transmitted from one generation to the next, like the “Sirloin of Manolo Espada’s grandma”, where the cheque is delivered written in pen, in the traditional way.
The proximity of Benahavis to the coast also makes it possible to find on the menus of the restaurants things like fish, seafood paellas, fish ‘zarzuelas’, etc.
The gastronomic offer in Benahavis is wide and varied, and even has a Catering School; it’s considered to be the restaurant of the Costa del Sol, and highly recommended place if you enjoy good food.
