This challenging route from Huelma to the summit of Pico Mágina offers a rewarding journey through the stunning landscapes of Sierra Mágina. The path takes you through diverse terrains, culminating in the ascent to the highest peak in the province of Jaen, standing at 2,167 meters.
We leave the town of Huelma along a track leading to the Sierra Mágina. This track can be accessed via the road from Huelma to Cambril. After a sharp bend, the road approaches the Cañada del Acero's brook, where the track veers to the right. The track eventually ends, and from here, we continue walking in the same direction towards the hill between Pico Jaén and La Serrezuela.
This section of the hike is the most difficult part of the journey. There is no clear track, and we must ascend through a steep valley to reach the hill between the two summits. The climb requires careful navigation and physical endurance. Once at the hill, we continue westwards to reach Pico Mágina.
Reaching the summit of Pico Mágina at 2,167 meters, the highest peak in Jaen, is a remarkable achievement. The panoramic views from the top are breathtaking, offering a unique perspective of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The natural beauty and tranquility at the summit make the challenging ascent well worth the effort.
