This crocodile park conserves some great sized specimens of these amazing creatures that outlived the dinosaurs and that you’ll be able to contemplate at less than 2 metres of distance. Initially it was located in Cartama since 1997 until 2003, although it was finally moved to Torremolinos, near the water park.
This crocodile park has all the facilities so that you can observe both small baby crocodiles as well as the great crocodiles of the river Nile that can weigh up to 500 kilos in Torremolinos.
During our tour we can visit the African museum, the learning room and a projection room where we’ll be able to understand the life of these reptiles. We can even photograph ourselves with a small crocodile in our arms, undoubtedly a great souvenir of our visit to the park.
The park offers exhibitions where we’ll be able to observe how the caretakers feed the large crocodiles and see the biggest crocodile in Europe, they named it "the great Paco".
In this park they have given classes to the security forces and the protection of the environment, just in case they would have to capture an alive abandoned specimen.
The park’s caretaker is an enthusiast of palaeontology, history and anthropology, he frequently goes on expeditions like the last one, where he found fossils of crocodiles of over 100 million years old in the Sahara (Morocco) of species that could have weighed around 6 tons. These crocodiles lived in the seas of the current Sahara desert, which in the past was inhabited by different species of dinosaurs.
On the following map you’ll be able to see the location of the park to which you can get to by foot from the Torremolinos station, by car and park in the public parking or by taxi.
Crocodile Park is situated 15 minutes away from the centre of Torremolinos.
