Nature in Cordoba

In Cordoba there are several natural areas for lovers of rural tourism and nature:

Sierra Morena

Natural Park Sierra de Hornachuelos

A beautiful place to walk and discover trails that take you to stunning reservoirs, canyons and up to Peña del Fraile, next to the abandoned seminary of Los Angeles, a particularly romantic spot.

The villages that make up the park are: Hornachuelos, Posadas, Almodovar del Rio and Villaviciosa de Cordoba, where you can sample delicious cuisine.

Macizo de Cabra

One of the natural wonders of Cordoba with peaks of up to 1380 m. altitude.

Cordoba Rivers

Rivers are commonly accompanied by hiking trails with beautiful natural sights of Cordoba.

Among the rivers in the province there are:

Rio Arenoso
River that runs through Sierra Morena before merging into the Guadalquivir.

Rio Genil
River with name of Arab origin and with its source in Sierra Nevada merging into the Guadalquivir.

Rio Guadajoz
Its source is situated in Sierras de Priego of Cordoba, close to the ruins of Ategua. The river finally merges into the Guadalquivir.

Rio Guadiato
Merging into the river Guadalquivir it passes by Belmez, Espiel and Villaviciosa de Cordoba. An old Arab bridge crosses the river Guadiato.

Rio Zujar
This river has its source close to Fuente Obejuna and merges into the reservoir of Badajoz, one of the largest reservoirs in Europe and the largest one in Spain.

Yet there are still more rivers such as: Rio Marbella, Bailon, Bembezar, Guadalmellato, Guadatin, Pontejon, Retortillo and Yeguas.
