This beautiful route takes you through the heart of the Natural Park Sierra de Aracena, featuring diverse landscapes and abundant wildlife. The path has some unmarked forks, so careful navigation is required to avoid getting lost. As you walk through the woods and along the riverbanks, you'll encounter a variety of animals, such as toads, frogs, newts, and salamanders, making this a truly immersive nature experience.
The route begins in Jabugo, a village situated at over 600 metres above sea level and approximately 100 kilometres from the provincial capital. Jabugo is renowned for its Iberian ham, so take the opportunity to enjoy some local delicacies if you have time before starting your hike.
From Jabugo, you can choose to hike directly to Castaño del Robledo (Map) or take a circular route that passes near Galaroza (Map). Both options offer stunning views and a chance to experience the region's natural beauty up close.
The journey ends in Castaño del Robledo, a charming town situated at an altitude of 738 metres, making it the highest village in Huelva. Surrounded by oak and chestnut trees, this picturesque town is perfect for a relaxing end to your hike. In Castaño del Robledo, you can find various amenities, including a restaurant and a hostel if you wish to extend your stay. There are also several entertainment and shopping areas to explore.
