As the route passes through Linares de la Sierra, hikers will encounter a picturesque village nestled in a valley. Linares de la Sierra is renowned for its typical Andalusian white village architecture, complete with narrow, cobbled streets and whitewashed houses. The village exudes charm and tranquility, making it a perfect place to pause and soak in the local ambiance. From here, the path continues towards Aracena, winding through typical Mediterranean forest and past old stone walls that demarcate areas of orchards.
Aracena, located at 700 metres above sea level, is a highlight of the route. The town is famed for its impressive castle on the hill, built on the ruins of an Alcazaba dating back to the period of Muslim rule. The castle offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape and is a must-visit attraction during your journey. Aracena is also known for its local delicacies, such as Iberian ham, and the spectacular Gruta de las Maravillas, a series of limestone caves with breathtaking formations.
