Marbella, as a popular destination that it is, has a long list of restaurants of both national and international cuisine. If you know where to go, we can eat very well in Marbella.
Around Marbella’s old quarter, we’ll find a couple of taverns that are well worth a visit, with an Andalusian style, their bars and tables are generally pretty packed:
La Niña del Pisto: A tavern with a wide offer. The recommended dishes are the ‘Salmorejo’ and the fried aubergines with golden syrup.
El Estrecho: The oldest bar in the old quarter where they serve fried fish like marinated dogfish, fresh anchovies in vinegar and lemon-style fresh anchovies, as the recommended plates.
If we decide to stay in the Hotel Don Pepe, a short walk will lead us to the Calima restaurant, with a big lounge, where we’ll enjoy some spectacular views as well as its haute cuisine.
Again in the old quarter, we’ll find a cellar-bar called Skina, with a great wine cellar and tasty dishes such as Turbot with peanuts, goat cheese or suckling kid, amongst others. This restaurant has a romantic terrace.
El Lago restaurant is situated near an artificial pond of a golf course and offers creative cuisine. Amongst the recommended dishes we must try the ‘Lomo de Salmonete con patatas aliñadas’ (red mullet loin with seasoned potatoes).
The omelettes of the ‘Guadalmina beach bar’ are famous, and so are the sardines on the spit at ‘El Ancla’ in San Pedro de Alcantara. Other recommended places are: ‘La Escollera’ in Estepona and ‘La Veranda’ in Benahavis.
