A few kilometres from Malaga coast and Mijas is situated the Alhaurin Golf & Hotel resort in the town of Alhaurin el Grande. This ambitious sports and tourism development is easily accessible by road from all the main resorts on the western Costa del Sol.
The original Seve Ballesteros design has received several investments in recent years to make it friendlier to all standards of Golfers. Visiting golfers will find themselves spoilt for choice, for there are 45 holes in all, an 18 hole full length course, a nine-hole short course and also the only 18-hole par three course in Andalucia.
The field is undulated and the fairways are long and narrow so straight hitting is a must if you want to avoid the traps of water and sand or the flower beds that adorn the rough. The great versatility of the tees, which have up to six output areas, facilitates the adaptation of the field to all handicaps. There is also a children's par 3 course adjacent to the new clubhouse.
The Alhaurin Golf resort is a four star hotel opened in 1998 with associated facilities such as gardens, pool, sauna and tennis courts.

How to get there: Going on the highway from Malaga, turn off into the MA-426 highway at Fuengirola. The golf course is about 10 kilometres off the road. Going from Marbella on the highway turn off at La Cala de Mijas and go towards La Cala, when you get to a roundabout with a stop sign, turn right.
