Tips for Hikers in Lanjarón and Surrounding Areas

  • Wear comfortable hiking boots and bring plenty of water, as the terrain can be rugged and the weather can be hot, especially in summer.
  • Check the weather forecast before starting your hike. The weather in the mountains can change rapidly, so it's important to be prepared for all conditions.
  • Carry a map and a compass, as some parts of the trail may not be well-marked. Although the paths are generally well-trodden, it's easy to lose your way in the dense forests and mountainous areas.
  • Respect the natural environment and take your trash with you. Lanjarón and the Alpujarra region are known for their pristine landscapes, so let's keep them that way.
  • Be aware of local wildlife. While hiking, you might encounter mountain goats, birds, and other wildlife. Keep a safe distance and do not disturb them.
  • Consider the altitude. The hike to Refuge Ventura reaches 2900 meters, so be mindful of altitude sickness. Take it slow and stay hydrated.
  • Inform someone about your hiking plans. Let a friend or family member know your route and expected return time, especially if you're hiking alone.
